Silver Leaf Awards 2008 – Showcase your excellence

How to enter

When entering, carefully follow these instructions. If they aren't followed correctly, or if your entry is incomplete, you could be disqualified.
  1. Choose the appropriate division and category for your entry.

    You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the PDF form. You can download Acrobat Reader here.

  3. Complete the work plan for your entry.
Submit both an electronic copy on a CD and a hard copy of the work plan. The work plan describes your project's communication program, how it was developed and what you intended to achieve.
  1. Assemble the work sample for your entry.

  2. The work sample can be electronic or a hard copy and is the physical example of your communication projects, for example a newsletter, podcast or web site.

  3. If the work was created on behalf of a client, include a written letter of permission for the client on their letterhead acknowledging your role and their consent for you to submit this entry. A printed copy of an email granting permission, signed by your client, is also acceptable.


  4. Complete the entry form in hard copy.
  5. Submit a copy of the entry form along with your payment. Submit a second copy of the entry form along with your work plan and work samples to the judging category coordinator by the deadline.

  1. Complete all fields on the entry form.
  2. Entrant's name.

    Give only one name. this must be the person who was principally responsible for the development, management and execution of the entry. The entrant’s name on the entry form must match the name on the work plan. Failure to comply with the requirement may result in disqualification. If you win a Silver Leaf Award, you will be contacted through email to see if you want to add additional names for recognition.

    Entrant’s Organization and full mailing address.

    Client organization or outside agency. If the work you are submitting was not done for your organization, include the name of the organization for which the project was designed. If you are no longer affiliated with the organization the project was designed for, or are an outside supplier (i.e., an agency or freelancer), you must include the organization’s written approval of the project on their company letterhead along with your entry.

    Division and category.

    List the division number and name (i.e., Division 2, Skills Communication) and the category (i.e., Category 18, Audiovisual) for your entry.

    Title of the entry.

    Choose a title that clearly describes your entry.


  3. Make your payment.


  4. You may pay by mail, phone or email.
    1. Mail both your payment (cheque or credit card information) and a copy of your completed entry form to SummersDirect (the administrative office), 18 Yukon Drive, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 4E9.
    2. Or email a scanned PDF or similar version of the completed form, including credit card information, to: renee.summers@summersdirect.com.
    3. Or mail or email the completed entry form and telephone to pay by credit card: 1-866-869-7969. Payments must be received by the deadlines listed.
The early bird deadline for entries is July 11, 2008; final deadline is July 18, 2008.

Eligibility

Your entry must:
  • Include original material as the work sample. Syndicated, borrowed, reprinted or stock materials are not accepted.
  • Meet entry timeframes and deadlines.
  • For this year’s competition, you must submit work that was produced and measured in 2007-08.
  • You may also submit work that was produced before 2007 if the work and/or measurement extended into 2007-08. (Entries that won last year may not be submitted again.) An entry that was submitted in prior years that was not a winner and meets the timeframe noted above may be resubmitted.
  • Include the stated written permission of clients, agencies, suppliers and other key project participants on the company letterhead of those providing permission. A printed copy of an emailed letter of permission, signed by the client or key participants, is also acceptable.
  • Include all required elements, such as electronic copy and hard copy of your work plan.
  • Be forwarded to the appropriate category coordinator. The list will be posted on this website in June. Make sure to allow enough time for delivery to the appropriate coordinator as some entries will take more than one day to arrive given the final destination.
  • Meet IABC’s Code of Ethics available at www.iabc.com
Your entry must NOT:
  • Exceed the maximum number of pages allowed for the work plan or other size limitations.
  • Be sent to SummersDirect (the program’s administrative office). Ensure that your work plan and work sample are forwarded to the correct category coordinator. Entries sent to SummersDirect will not be considered for an award and entry fees will not be returned.
